Healing Hatha

This class is taught by:

Kate Brethauer

As a west coast native who has spent the last 5 years living on the east coast in NYC and Miami, moving to Napa Valley has in many ways felt like coming home for Kate. Kate's journey to yoga began long before she became serious about her practice, when after college she recognized that she had developed many unhealthy habits, she joined a gym and met a phenomenal yoga instructor. Years later, in an impulse move to Miami, she reconnected with a good friend who encouraged Kate to attend a yoga teacher training. In the mysterious ways of the universe, Kate found a passion for yoga that has strengthened her existing relationships with family, friends, and even herself. Kate describes her classes as often alignment focused, and typically built toward a peak pose. Kate admits to being an arm balance junkie, and believes that life is more fun upside down! Therefore, in her classes you will refine basic poses while building the strength and flexibility to explore challenging variations of arm balances, inversions, and back bends. When not on the mat, Kate is an avid reader (currently fixated on American History during the Oregon Trail), traveler (whether to SF, Seattle, or South America), gardener, and tinker-er. Just ask Bob at Steve's Hardware ;).

Maria Coggiola

Maria Coggiola became certified as an instructor through YogaWell of San Diego, while earning her Master's degree in education. She is proficient in several disciplines of yoga and also cross trains to gain a more balanced workout regimen. In addition to providing the student body of the Culinary Institute of America with academic and disability support services, she has been teaching mixed level yoga classes there for the last three years. Maria enjoys guiding her students in a relaxing, open, and rewarding atmosphere. Regardless of your experience level, you can be assured that you will stretch, strengthen, and gain muscle awareness in her classes.
Hatha yoga combines the physical practice and postures with breath control. In this group class, your practice can be modified or intensified as needed giving you a very individualized experience. Learn to listen to your body and understand what you need specifically from each practice. Healing Hatha can build strength, stretch you deeply, and detox to bring balance to your mind and body to help you achieve optimum health.
